Default Using a non manufacturer battery in my D3100?

Is it safe? Im after an extra battery to take on holiday but the Nikon ones are £50 and upward (the EN-EL14). I have noticed some on amazon like these :

    Ex-Pro Nikon EN-EL14, ENEL14, High Power Plus+ 2: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41oRRJI3uKL.@@AMEPARAM@@41oRRJI3uKL

    Replacement Battery - Nikon EN-EL14: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51LQ9l%2BIByL.@@AMEPARAM@@51LQ9l%2BIByL

Both are around the £20 mark, they look ok - but before I go purchasing one of these, are there any dangers I should be aware of when using one of these in my camera? can they do damage etc?

    thanks

Have a look if Ansmann do them for it. I always use them in my cameras and very good quality.

third party ones are usually fine, my Sony is happy with 8 quid batteries (official ones are about 40).

Should be fine, but make sure you look at the mAh number which in basic terms means how long it will last.

Try to get one the same or higher than the original. I've seen some which you think are a really good deal, but only half the mAh so end up a false economy. I bought a dirt cheap one once but it was just as an emergency battery to keep in the bottom of my camera bag to get me out of trouble if I forgot a 'proper' spare.

thanks all for the replies. its basically a backup battery. i'm not going to be anywhere near a power socket for 4 days maximum and although my nikon battery should last, i would prefer to have an extra just in case.
