Question Replace Sky+ with Sky+ HD

Hi guys, just a little advice required to confirm whether or not I have just wasted some of my hard earned.

I currently have a Sky+ box which no longer has a Sky subscription - hence I am not using it.... it is turned off.

I would like to replace it with a Sky+ HD box, that I have just purchased from eBay. It also comes with a white viewing card, so I presume that I will be able to watch the free HD channels (BBC HD, ITV HD etc.).

I plan on calling Sky and paying the £10 p/m to allow me to use the recording services on the new (to me) Sky+ HD box.

    My questions are:

    1) Will I be able to simply swap my current Sky+ box with the Sky+ HD box?
    2) Will Sky enable the recording services for £10 p/m
    3) Is there a minimum tie in for the £10 p/m subscription or can it be enabled/cancelled at will?

    Thanks in advance guys,
    Steve

    1) Yes
    2) Yes
    3) Yes with 31 days to quit.

    But............

The white card you have is registered to someone else and I dought Sky will let you enable it.

Sky would send you another new card in your name but if they send you a freeview card its at a cost of £25.00 as a one off payment.

    Regards

Thanks for the reply. I called Sky earlier and they said that the Sky+ services are £11.25 per month with a 12-month tie in, which differs from what you told me. Do you think that Sky may have changed their policy on this?

Looks like it I presume it was a per month option but now it looks like its a full term 12 month min contract.

If that was the case I would go for the minimum package and get a few channels extra for your money.

£144 (per year) just to have the pleasure of recording FreeSat channels?! I think that's a bad mood by Sky if that's the case...
I know where I'd rather put my money -

    Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ 320GB HD Digital TV Twin: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31bQpoeq64L.@@AMEPARAM@@31bQpoeq64L

Bung them Sky boxes back on eBay and invest in something you dont need to pay for...!

I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £25. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 08448 244 400.
