    Help Logo Advice

I have created a drawing in autocad which I think was a bad choice of platforms really, its for a logo for a new venture I am about to go into. Thing is, its in .dwg format and theres not much I can now do with it with regards to getting it into other software for use like making business cards flyers etc etc. I grabbed a dwg to pdf converter of the newsgroups but every time I try to convert it it just says failed. Is there some way of exporting it from autocad or converting it to something more usable? I have seen the export to bitmap but the quality was terrible.

Just so you know im useless with autocad and all things like that and what I did that took me hours could have probably been done in 5 mins by an accomplished person. However I have autocad and thought thats what I should use so I did a 2d drawing in that. Like I said it was maybe the wrong decision but ive done it now and its exactly what I want. I did try with some logo making software but couldnt find a way to do what I wanted.
    Thanks

Is it too big/high res to do a screen grab?

    Does THIS help?

This has been built into the last few releases - you don't need adobe acrobat pro anymore to export pdf's. Either file export pdf, or scroll down to the other filetypes to choose from a few.

Also for the future look up aaalogo - someone had this at work and it looked nice.

I grabbed AAAlogo of newsgroups the other week but there was no bloody crack with it, or serial or whatever it needed. I have just exported it straight from Autocad to PDF now, thanks didnt even notice that export list there, I was looking under the file menu not the "A" menu Doh!!

Anyway thats cool and all but what I want to do is colour it and stuff so I can add it to business cards etc in Publisher. So will I be able to do that with a PDF? Or should I install photoshop and try to get it into there somehow.

    PS Thanks fellas!!

If it's good enough quality just screengrab the pdf, paste into Photoshop, save as a .psd and then start doing what you want to it using layers and the tools etc.

Then when finished export whatever format you want for use in publisher.

Thanks chaps, ive managed to save it as PDF then opened that up as smart object in photoshop flattened the image, (listen to me like I know what im on about!! yeah right) this then allowed me to do colours and stuff and I have it in psd, jpg, png, bmp etc now.

The thing is how do you separate your actual logo from the white background? I want it so that when I import it into say publisher for a business card so that it just adds the lettering and the text, not a big white image background. I really only figure all this stuff out by trial and error. Im useless at stuff like this and you would most likely laugh at it but Im really determined to at least learn the basic photoshop stuff for future use.

Thanks mc.dodd youve helped me out before mate so appreciate that, I may send it to you anyway so you can a.) have a good laugh and b') correct anything that may be wrong with it.
    Cheers

I'm wondering if exporting it as an eps would be your best option - I believe eps are vector files - logos look horrible when bitmaps are scaled. Dunno how you would then manipulate it and what your end output would be but it's food for thought. Also check your pm.

ah mcDodd is on the case now, but if anyone else has the same problem in future...

In Photoshop start a new project with a transparent background, create a new layer, load /paste the pdf / image into the new layer.

Then you just simply have to erase all the white bits that you don't want until you can see the transparent (checkered) background. You can use the lasoo tools to section of areas to edit making it easier to delete the correct bits, and alt+mousewheel to zoom in/out for the finer edges.

Then when saving make sure you use a format that supports alpha transparency (png / gif etc).

    Hope that helps someone
