    Default Best emulators

I love retro gaming and have been downloading a few emulators and rom sets.

What emulators are people using and how do they run.

The current ones I'm happy with are as follows.

    Nesoid (NES)

    https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

    Marvin (ZX Spectrum)

    https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

    and FPSE (PSX)

    https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

and I'm using the following app to find/download roms

    https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

    what are you using ?

I'd like (if possible) a decent atari, amiga, arcade (mame), megadrive, gba/gbc, tg, bbc, coleco and any others i've missed.

I've been playing NES all day with my wiimote and loved it, so I think it's retro month at malty's house

Pretty much all the emulators by yongzh will have you covered. E.g. Snesoid, GBCoid, GameBoid, Gensoid. UAE4Droid was pretty good on my stock Nexus S. SWOS was playable on it as was Speedball and The Chaos Engine. Hope that helps.

As above gameboid and gensoid are ok for gameboy and mega.

UAE4droid development seems to have come to a stop and is pretty buggy. It's very picky over which kickstarts it will work with and some games just don't run.
That been said SWOS, Speedball and Supercars II all work which makes me very happy!
Pinball Illusions etc work but there is no way of mapping the correct Amiga keys in UAE4droid to be able to play it.
Touch to Mouse support is also pretty sketchy so Lemmings etc are pretty unplayable.

    N64oid is also developing interestingly.

Don't forget to get ScummVm as well! This is the best version I've found...

never owned a snes or n64 so those games dont have the same pull for me as they might do for other people.

Is there no mame equivalent ? I've seen the tiger one but it seems limited to neogeo and cps1/2 ?

Thanks for the advice, i'll try a few of those out. I've tried 2 genesis emulators so far and neither work for me, unless theres something up with my roms

Great thread, how have I not got any emulators for Android? That used to be standard for any device I bought: hack it, get the emulators.

I'm sceptical about playing without the good old feel of a controller though. Which emulators feel the least weird if that makes sense?

Is Gran Turismo actually good on it?

i tried the GBA one and its excellent, ran Mother 3 perfectly and is compat with the sav from my EZflash. The lack of real buttons makes the whole thing a little pointless for me though, one of the reasons why I fancy that new playstation phone, ugly fucker that it is.

The n64 one is out, runs most of the older games just fine now. Was playing mario kart 64 earlier on my desire.

Has anyone made a usb or bluetooth controller like this but smaller?

I just want something tiny I can plug in to use as a controller.

You can pair a bluetooth controller with it.

You can use this as it's small - http://www.redstore.com/ZEEJOY001

Or you can use a Wii controller.

Optionally that fling thing for the ipad might work well too - not tried that though.

Yea, I want a really small controller that you can just clip on to the phone. Something like a PSP where the PSP screen is the phone.

I'm using a wiimote for mine as its hardware I already have. Works fine. Zeemote is actually mentioned in the config for fpse. Wondered what it was, doesn't look bad for the money if it can be made to work with the majority of emulators.

Also, any nexus s owners running a Genesis emulator? I still can't get one to run.

Did you try Gensoid? It worked fine on my Nexus S. I was playing Brian Lara Cricket 96 on it just the other day.

All the more reason to download them and play some of the classic games you have missed out on mate. I wish I was in your position and had missed playing the Snes/N64 catalogue as there are some crackers to be played.

Yes - they still won't work with sense.

Gensoid works with the nexus S, it's actually listed in the changelog and I've bought it. None of the others did. Loving wiimote support, didn't realise it doesn't work on HTC sense, thought it was just touchwiz (samsung) that it didn't work with. It really makes these emulators come alive as you've not got fingers covering up the action. Still wish there was a decent mame type emulator. want my fix of starforce !

Anyway, I'm off to find all my favourite megadrive roms

Mario Kart and Super Mario for SNES.

    Super Mario 64 for n64.

I know it's not very original recommending Mario franchises but they are classics. I completed super mario 64 on the DS (virtually the same game) only 2 years ago and it was one of the best games I've ever played.

Zelda - Link to the past
    Earthbound
Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World
    Donkey Kong Country
    Contra 3\Super Probotector
    Gradius 3
    Yoshi's Island
    Super Bomberman
    F-Zero
    Super Castlevania IV

Would be my suggestions, with Zelda - Link to the Past holding the top slot as my all time fav game.
