going back to newsgroups info needed pls

decided to jump back into the newsgroups malarky but, would like you guys to suggest a decent host.

I used to use newsdemon, but know there are prob better cheaper options.
retention is a factor as I tend to want older stuff etc.

so what do you guys use and what price you paying each month.

bad timing! astranews have recently began removing LOTS of stuff due to DMCA requests. I have only just moved over from Giganews due to this issue. Maybe some other members can recommend a host with some balls!

Really? Been with Astraweb for a few years, and never had a problem downloading anything, and downloaded over 200gb so far this month without issue, what type of files are they removing?

only past few days m8, any upload of mortal kombat or portal 2 (both 360) older than 24 hours has been nuked. Uploaders are getting round it by renaming the rars.

Cheers mate, downloaded them both within minutes of completion, so never noticed. I have noticed Wii game takedowns in the past though!

I got cha-por2 & mvl-mkmk this morning on Astra without a hitch.

It might just be the settings your using.

I have been using certain Ports for a reason the last few months... (8080 & 463)

If you use their normal ones (119 & 563) you will get missing files/broken downloads.

I use newshosting but recently I've been getting slow d/l's but that maybe due to contention ratio or vermin's traffic shaping. Not really sure yet.

Vermin is like a media provider that has never been tampered with - unlike my connection.
