Hello,
Right I have a need to play two lines of audio and send them to two different sources.
1. Game audio
2. TV programme audio
How would I do this on Windows 7?
In xp this worked fine.
Would I need an extra sound card?
Thanks in Advance

right ok. How do you do it mate?
I have an onboard hdmi port and connected to my tv.. and the speakers are connected to onboard audio? I have tried alsorts but can only get one. sound source to work.
Does the tuner have its own sound output?
i dont use hdmi.i use dvi & vga for the monitor.
i have standard speakers connected to the pc with jack plug .
where my sound icon is at the bottom right side of the screen it(in Mixer) lists every thing that uses sound.
this is my works PC but at home i would have in the list-media centre & the game im using.all working at the same time.

Thanks but im sure I have tried this ill have another play. But general consensus on the internet is windows 7 doesn't do it.
windows 7 does do it.........
im running windows 7 home premium 64bit at home no problems, at work windows 7 ultimate same no problems...
unless the tv card is the problem.
I have the same problem as you ant3b when using hdmi. Whenever the hdmi cable is plugged in it wont give any sound until it is selected as the default output in sound properties. As soon as it's selected the laptop speakers don't work anymore. It annoys my mrs as she can't watch her soaps on the tv at the same time as her *cough* farm in facebook. Think I will go down the road of dvi cable like wrath of bod.
Glad im not the only one..
I cannot use dvi on my tv in bedroom.. it only has a vga connector hmm..
Just re read your second. post.. from the sounds of it . Its not what I am after..
In your second post it seems that all the sound is playing at the same time and not split between the two sources. for example sound from the only plays on the pc and sound for the TV only plays on the TV and not mixing them

No CompproB237 you are wrong. I have just installed the Virtual Audio Cable 4.10 Trial version on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit running on my MacBook Pro and just as I'm writing this I'm enjoying the multiple output music running from the built-in speakers and built-in optical output AT THE SAME TIME! It is possible because VAC includes Audio Repeater utility.
How to do it:
1) Create one virtual audio cable. Is already created after install, it is called "Virtual Cable 1". You don't have to modify anything.
2) Run "Audio Repeater (KS)" from Start menu.
3) In the Wave In combo select "Virtual Cable 1".
4) In the Wave Out combo select "Audio Speaker" (depends on computer).
5) Click Start
6) Run SECOND "Audio Repeater (KS) from Start menu.
7) In the Wave In combo select "Virtual Cable 1".
8) In the Wave Out combo select "Audio SPDIF Out" (depends on computer).
9) Click Start
10) Run Windows Media Player, go to menu Tools, Options, Devices, double click Speakers, select Virtual Audio Cable, click OK 2x.
11) Play audio in the player
12) Enjoy never before possible multiple output audio playback!
13) And yes I fully agree that Microsoft developers are a bunch of morons!
Uses optical but i am going to give this a try.. with the HDMI
Quick update managed to do it with VAC but its a bit flakey and fiddly to set up everytime I start the PC.
So on goes the search
