just looked into this you probably ended up at http://biosagentplus.com it is linked from the phoenix support page this is a separate commercial company that make money scanning you computer and offering links to updated software and bioses..

My advice you go to the laptop manufacturers web site for your bios

phoenix may not be deliberately linking to the company, it was probably just adverts.. and since you were looking for bios it displayed bios related adverts.

take it as blessing in disguise.. you were successfully lead astray but your not being bombarded with rogue antivirus (which is usually the case in this situation I'd say) or haven't downloaded a fake/incompatible bios

the dropdown for partners.. in otherwords.. not phoenix themselves.

..just thought anyways.. shouldn't you be going to mainboard manufacturer site for updates?

    [edit]
just found this site.. 3rd google result (not including sponsored links of course) on my search (biosagentplus)

    http://forum.worldstart.com/showthread.php?t=131437

    ..doesn't look good..

    [edit2]
..a trusted source (in this case the mainboard manufacturer) says there isn't one and a suspicious program says there is but wants some sort of payment..

    ..alarm bells are ringing..

wow, CNET are taking a hammering on their 4* review.. look at the comments..

    download.cnet.com/BIOSAgentPlus/3000-2098_4-10175528.html

..tried putting in clickable link but I didn't like the way the forum previewed it or whatever the hack is, (was loading two windows) on a side note this is note this is not the first time that hack has had a negative effect on links I've tried to post. (megaupload links being the last time) ..what if the destination site is unavailable.. wouldn't that slow the loading of our posts? ..mobile web viewers browsing fully rendered pages will take longer etc etc.. keep it simple man..
