what's the point? surely go get the mac/ssid you need to be within the wifi reception area anyways.. and if your within the wifi area, you won't need a map telling you where (it thinks) it is.

Twoplanks caught me out on this one - apparently the phones can use rf triangluation to pin point the ap's. If you can locate a few you can then locate yourself. Apparently the non 3g ipad still has google maps which uses the wifi in the manner described.

Site is there but it does say: Note: Google has taken steps to stop my tool from working, including explicitly blocking me directly. Additionally, their geolocation API will now only share informatithat Google has on *you* only if you provide them not only information about your router, but unwittingly provide information about *other* people's routers.
