iphone 4 bumper ?

I am due an upgrade next month and was wondering does the iphone 4 including the new white ones still need a bumper ?

I posted the same - that I thought this is meant to be the working iphone 4 but noone else responded. I have a funny feeling apple have gone quiet about that to get out of any obligation to fix/replace the faulty ones already sold.

When you say bumper - I might be off with this - but...

iPhone 4 has a glass front and glass back, my neighbor found that out the hard way just yesterday. Should be perspex IMO.

To replace them both from eBay = £65 plus about 2 hours.

White models have been adapted to prevent death grip syndrome so no bumper required but some protection is recommended to prevent drop damage. Unsure about black models but I don't think apple have revised the design.

Deathgrip was one of the terms applied to losing all signal when holding the phone and bridging the external antennas. Apparently it has been addressed via hardware revision on the White iPhone but I have not heard of the black handset being revised.

I'm an iPhone fan but eagerly awaiting an android handset which matches build quality of the iPhone 4. Even the Nexus S feels plasticy to me.

the iphone 4 white does not come with a bumper neither is it required 'as much' as the previous black one. due to the media and awareness people know about the death grip so no need to offer one free.

Upgaded from 3g to 4 6/7 months ago...Untill recently I'd never heard of a bumper. Heard of a "thing" that stops it from dropping calls though.

Bought one of those rubbery cases for it at the same time, so never been without it. Never dropped a call etc. At no time during the painstaking buying process was a bumper mentioned or offered.

The iphone 4 hasnt needed the bumper in ages. My missus bouhht one the beginning of the year and they had stopped supplying the bumpers. They made a slight design change iirc
