'Register interest only' at the moment on both sites.

They are not limited to 10,000 any more, they are placing orders based on demand and therefore everyone who wants one should actually get one for the normal price.

So, if I bought one of these, I could connect it to my router via ethernet, connect it to the TV via HDMI, then should be able to use it to stream films to the tv? It'll need a remote though right? So what's the solution for that? Can you get cheap usb infrared receivers that you can use a universal remote with?

On another note, I'm no patriot but I think it's a bit sad that a British invention manufactured and distributed by British companies is priced in dollars.

Any ir receivers will require drivers etc but I'd bet money on the support arriving soon. Initially your best bet will be xbmc used with a wireless mouse and keyboard. My aim is to have the Raspberry Pi sitting behind my tv with a decent multimedia keyboard with built in touchpad for both browsing and media centre use.

    Thanks to mysterym

Yes and yes, it needs power, hdmi and ethernet to get it on your network (although im guessing you could plug in a wifi dongle to get it on wireless network that way)

A while back I bought a windows mce remote and it came with the infrared receiver that plugs in to a usb port im sure theres more 3rd party and universal remotes now that will work with it, My plan is to install XBMC on it and retire either one of my old xbox1's or replace my atv2 with one and then move the atv2 over to replace the loudest of the old xbox's

    hth

    Thanks to casio
