help with garmin nuvi 1300

just bought this off a mate, he said it needed updating but seems to work fine and he may have just meant the maps needed an update.

are these easy to do? anyone have any experience with these as ive never personally had one but it does look quite smart & thin.

I've tried a couple - the last one I ended up giving up on tbh.. the software sucks imo. city navigator, 11 i believe is the lastest.. unless you get updates via web/subscription (not looked into) then there doesn't seem to be updates that often..

not sure about your model, but i have done two lower end models and it was easier than doing a tomtom, just use the web updater to update any software then download an unlocked map, and drop it into the garmin folder,
i have always removed the original map.img file, but advise you back up your garmin first just incase it goes tits up, maps can be found easy enough.
