I've had a set-up for just over 2 years. I started with a DM500 and now have a DM800HD, both clones. As usual you get what you pay for. The DM500 was an excellent startup box and well worth the money (that's now used in the bedroom on a fixed dish). The DM800 is an excellent bit of kit for the money and I have had no problems at all with it.

I'm in the Blackburn area and they charge between 50-75 quid for installation. I can understand someone having the dish set up for them but I installed everything, from the dish and bracket to flashing the box and I enjoyed it because it's part of the fun. I did a lot of reading and research for a couple of weeks.

I ended up making my own bracket because I did not have a lot of faith in the one supplied. I used 50mm angle and a scaffold pole. I also upgraded the supplied LNB to a high gain Technomate 0.1db. (the lower the db the better I found out after I bought the original)

When you install the bracket the vertical pole the dish or motor, depending on your setup, will be mounted on has got to be absolutely plumb!!

@matthewy2 get the big dish banged up.. bigger the better

At the moment I have an 80cm dish with a triax multi lnb arm. I am pointing towards 13e, 19.2e and 28.2e. This gives me a huge choice of channels. When I move which I am looking to do I will be getting a 60 cm dish either pointing directly at 19.2e or with a multilnb pointing at 19.2 and 28.2. This gives me more than enough channels for my needs. I only use it for sport.

I would never consider this a replacement for sky. If you watch Sky and you are hoping to use a linux system to replace that, I'd say you have almost no chance. I always kept SKY when I was with my wife as she would watch a lot of TV, and there is also SKY+ which is irreplaceable with the linux setup.

From what I've heard there isn't much benefit of having the 110 over the 90 from where we live?

If I owned the house it would of gone straight up. My mates the landlord though and I don't fancy an argument from it.

So if any 1 fancies a bargain let me know ASAP

I could be interested in your dish Matthewy. I'm moving to Greece, and a 1.1 will just about get me the ITV bouquet lol

Not posted here in a while, but I've just got myself sorted with a new bit of kit so thought I'd come see what people are up to.

I just got myself a Triax 1m bowl, single LNB and Technomate 2600 motor. Using my existing VU+ Duo with the box, motorised dish on tuner A and 28.2E static on tuner B.

The back of my house is slap bang south and has an unobstructed view of the sat arc, so I've ended up with amazing signal quality on nearly everything east or west. Obviously there are sats that are known to be weak in the NW, but even those come through pretty well! Decided to get it all done on a whim a couple of days ago, whilst I had a day off work wi' th'baby. Yep, the Haye-Klitscho fight on RTL 19.2E was the main driving force for me sorting it all out.

I can see myself getting addicted to farting about with this setup, been checking out feeds listed on feed-hunting sites all yesterday evening!

I read in a few different places that the static should always be on tuner A and motorised on B...Dunno why like or what difference it makes.

I'll switch the cables and tuner configs around when I get home then, because I read in one or two places that's how most people have it set up.

Cheers Nibb, im looking at this one...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/80cm-BASIC-MOT...item5ae07e35f4. I guess it would be better to get a quad LNB for a duel tuner box tho? What u guys think? Also im gonna go for the openbox 9 as matthewy2 has suggested and put my DM 500 in the bedroom.
