sorry to hijack the thread bt is there any tools to bypass the genuine ink check? Ive been using compats for ever and I'm on my last black which its saying isnt official. Had this a few times before but always just chucked another cart in since they're only 70p each or whatever they were.

@ss30 and afc, ill search a bit more. it may be that i will have to make a loader with official software like we did for the r265.

@909 im not 100% but you can get one of those epson ink cart resetter units, it resets the cart to full and might help. i will look into it tho.

@909 let me look into it m8

what i might have to do like i mentioned above is make a loader using the official toolkit from epson, i still have the code from the r265 resetter we did so might be an easy thing to do. we got the r265 resetter working (big thanks to possy etc) despite epson restricting the thing from working after a certain date.

and 909, i do think you should be able to reset individual carts using the official eopen reset software.

and for the member whos printer had two flashing red lights, this can be 2 main things. the first is the ink counters need a reset - as you know

but the second, and not many people know about this is: the PW sensor underneath the printer head (where you put the ink carts in) needs cleaning. i did mine on my r265 by 'bending' a cotton earbud, wetting the tip with hot water and GENTLY cleaning the sensor area.

how to find the pw sensor without stripping your machine down?

i managed to clean mine without stripping the machine down by using the method above, i found out where the pw sensor was by finding a service manual for my r265 - took some finding.

my machine kept flashing red lights even after a waste ink counter reset so i knew it was something worse, a bit of research into this and i saw one poster mentioning their pw sensor and how they had cleaned it and got their machine up and running again.

i did mine and its been absolutely fine since!

cool mate, if you can do anything I'll appreciate it, going to order some more carts later anyway but I could do with printing a few things by tomorrow.

I believe some of these resetter tools require you to change the date of your PC.. not sure if it applies to all machines tho..
also, I changed compatibility to XP SP2 and run as admin.. that's how I got mine to recognise the printer last time I tried..

@det - haven't tried the tool you supllied yet as I'm mving house and everything is all over the shop..lol..

@mc yeah your right m8, the ones i post are supposed to allow any date, the one we did actually changes the date and lets the program run but you might have to run as admin or run in compat mode if on vista or win7

when we did the r265 resetter we managed to get it running as admin etc without having to change anything and like i said i still have the code on my spare h/d so might be able to use that. testing is an issue for me as i only have an r265 lol

will do m8, i think its the date thats the crucial bit so might be similar to the r265.

ok, had nothing to do so thought I'd improve our app..

    now supporting the following:

    R200, R210, R220, R230, R240, R245, R250, R265, R270, R285, R290, R200, R310, R320, R340, R350, R390 and CX3900

..also now includes SSC Service Utility.. I'm assuming this is what you meant det..?

apparently most are only for 9X/XP and as we know some will only operate on certain days.. the program will automatically set compatibility & elevation (admin) options if running win7/vista to give it the best shot at working and it will also set the required system date.. so long as you exit the program normally it will return your system date etc..

..may add some more tomorrow.. see how busy I am at work

oh, nearly forgot to mention.. now sporting a nice icon

    ..here it is ---> http://www.fileserve.com/file/4Jq6G75

@ Possy_99 - good work fella and many thanks for updating the app
will try it on my old r240 & r245 this weekend if I get chance..
if I remember these printers were giving me E-02 errors with a red x in the display, I managed to get one of the printers to recognise all but one cartridge so I wonder if I need to clean the sensor Det mentioned?..
