Hi guys ,my daughter has cracked her screen on her ipod touch 2 gen
is it possible to replace my self ,or shop jobby

Is it the glass or LCD that is cracked? I assume it is assembled just like the iPhone 3G in which case it is a relatively simple job if you take your time and do it properly. I have not repaired an itouch but there must be vids on YouTube.

Hair dryer to warm the glue - (it's seriously strong shit), an extremely small philips screwdriver and £6 would usually get it sorted.
Quite easy, although a bit fiddly.

Repaired 4 iPhones and 2 iPod Touches myself doing it this way. First one was nervy, but turns out it is a piece of cake.

Word of caution on the ipd touch. On 4th gen the lcd and digitizer are fused, so even if it's just the digitizer cracked you need to buy a replacement lcd and digitizer already fused together. Not sure about the 2nd gen touches though.

Agreed.

4th Gen is pretty pointless trying, mega strength glue and trying to get it hot enough to 'defuse' melts bits!
2nd Gen is not too bad and if memory serves me, separates easier.
