Now as a northern I love my Pea & Ham soup but I'm a rubbish cook so rely upon my father (who is a really good cook) making several pints and freezing it to give to me every time I visit.

Now he lives quite a long way from our home so I only get up there a few times a year.

This mean there are times when I have to fix my craving elsewhere.

For many years now I have been going through the well known brands and varieties (did you know Baxters have 7 different variations of pea and Ham soup ) in search of the perfect pea and ham soup. To date they have all failed for one reason or another.

Some common problems with these have been :-
  • Not enough ham chunks
  • The ham pieces have been minced
  • Used smoke bacon instead of ham
  • no peas in their original round green pea shaped form
  • Too watery
This problem continued until I discovered the other day whilst out hunting for a new fix the Morrisons own brand of Pea and Ham Soup.

Its simply wonderful. Everything about it is just perfect save for the uninspiring tin.

Decent chucks of real ham in a thick pea soup seasoned to perfection and cost just 56p.
