result My first ever attempt at Honey Mead - Bottled

In February, I attempted my first batch of Honey Mead. Just a 1 Gallon Demi to start with. Ingredients were as follows:

    4lbs of Orange Blossom Honey
    Spring Water
    25 Raisins
1 Half of a Jaffa Orange (this one was a behemoth)
    1 Cinnamon stick
    Champagne yeast - Vintners SN9
Some yeast nutrient to compliment the fruit
A small amount of Pectic Enzyme

It started out as this: (taken with my phone in poor light)

Today I bottled what I think you would agree is an very clear result . There are 5 more bottles of this which will now be aged for at least another 6 - 12 months. Alcohol content taken from my readings is about 14-15%

I've had a small taste. Very nice at the moment if not a little sharp but then it's like any kind of wine that's just been made. Will need to age for a time before it gets better

hehe, Northernbloke, I'd be happy to oblige if it weren't for the fact I'd only made a small amount . As and when I go for the whole 5 gallon version, I'm sure I can give a few samples away

Fair play mate. I've tried a few times in my younger days - mainly to just get pissed as much and as often as I could for the least amount of cash. Always did reasonably well despite everything I ever did making me shit like a navvy.
My dad was worse at it, Some worked out OK but when the last lot exploded all over the pantry my mam put a stop to it. All our fucking coats were in there...

LOLOL. Can picture the scene. I remember doing a Rioja a few years back and filled the demi-john too much forgetting about how active tannins are in Red wines... it exploded out of the air lock and all over the wall. Fortunately, it was a room that had just been stripped for re-decorating.
