Windows 8 will play Xbox 360 games, according to a report.
The forthcoming operating system will be able to run Xbox 360 titles through a subscription fee similar to Xbox Live, says Insideris.
The move will help ensure continued sales for Xbox 360 games beyond the lifespan of the console, suggested the report.
However, cross platform play won't be possible, as Xbox 360 games on Windows 8 will use Windows Live Marketplace and not Xbox Live.
Windows 8 will have a large focus on gaming, and has been confirmed to feature the Xbox Live service at its core.
The next Xbox console has been reported to debut at Microsoft's E3 conference next year.
