Photos My 1st [well 2nd actually] Model shoot

After attending a two day Product & Studio Lighting course last month I was hooked. The 1st shot is of Claire Keith Moss's assistant [not a model] and I was over the moon with it. SO after posting it on Flikr I was contacted by a model wanting some portfolio shots, and because I wanted the experience I offered to do them for free..

The last shot sadly ended my marriage, as my narrow minded soon-to-be-ex-wife went ballistic when she saw that the model had the button undone on her shorts...WTF!?!?

As I had no experience I let the model wear her own choice of clothing & do her own poses, I just took the shots. Trying to explain to tfew that i didnt see a woman through the lens, but a subject being lit from various directions, and how I could use that light & the reflection the in the water fell on deaf ears...oh well

    Anyway, enough waffle
    Claire

1st pic is great. depth of field, exposure excelent

2nd model pics are nice, i like B&W ones. she's a bit of a growler tho, your ex must have thought youd dropped your standards a bit, or didnt believe she was a model

anyhoo, well done mate you have a skill there

you should have said "she only had one button undone, if she had them all undone, like me, I could see your point"

strange story mate, it must have been rocky to begin with though, my GF was actually encouraging me to try and get a shot of this bird who was obviously wearing nae knickers in the park last summer

    Just my 2cents.

The first pic I feel is the strongest in the set, although I find the focal point is torn between her eyes and the pin on her, but that kinda works. I quite like the desaturated look too.

Chersey 1, awful pose, her head and neck melt into one, and you've lost her feet.

Chersey 2, much better, perhaps the sky a bit blown out which distracts a bit.

Chersey 3, Natural, no nasty postpro,

Chersey 4, Again, OTT on the post-pro, doesn't look natural, i like the reflection in the water but I think it would have looked better as a widescreen style shot with her to one side.

to further _Belials comments, I think a big issue with these shots (bar the first) is the eyes. I dont have any experience on this sort of work but I think the eyes should be far clearer.

In terms of the subject (Cheryse), she's not ugly really is she. But she's nothing great. I wouldn't have guessed she was a model. Now, point I'm trying to make there is, if you have someone who's a bit of a plain Jane, then the amateur erotic shots look wrong because you lose the weight of the idea that she's looking sexy (that's what she wants to do, clearly) because the viewer is thinking "meh, she's nowt special.." instead. She looks like someone you work with. I think Cheryse #3 is the best of the lot. Nice shot that.
I'd have liked #1 more if she hadn't got bobble/fluff all over her sleeve and you'd cloned out her zit.
    That's the trouble with close-ups..
