Default mobile AV player advice (android tablet??)

    hi,
im a motorcycle riding instructor and i use a video camera to record my students whilst riding, i have now upgraded to an HD camera and my cheapo DVD/sd card player wont play the files.

the files are recorded on a 16gb SDHC card as .MOV and are 1080p but can be recorded as 720p or even smaller if really needed
i was thinking about getting a cheapish android tablet/slate - would this work?
i already have a windows 7 mini laptop (ibm x41) but its such a pain in the ass waiting for it to boot up just to prove the student looked the wrong way whilst exiting a roundabout!

Why not upload an example clip somewhere and one of us Advent Vega users could test it out. Not sure if one of the cheaper less powerful tablets would work with HD content.

I'm changing over broadband providers at the moment and am due to be without internet for a couple of weeks - if I haven't lost connectivity by the time I get home I'll give this a go on my Vega.

Tried this last night - as is the file won't play natively on the tablet and would need converting to be played. Doesn't surprise me as very often these digital cameras / mini-cams record in some pretty proprietary codecs etc.

    Thanks to flipper321

Plays fine on my vega, if a little slow

would probably fare much better with 720p (or even better 480p). I renamed the file to mp4 (mov is just the quicktime name for mpeg 4 really). It played fine in the native player and rock player and dice player

got mine for 160 delivered with a case and bigger SD card on here, greens had one for sale too

upload something 720p and 480p and i'll comment on the quality. 1080p really is a bit slow to be useable, although MX player and dice player are getting regular updates for the tegra 2 chipset

720p plays 'ok' but a bit stuttery which is a bit odd since my vega plays 720p stuff straight from a network share fine. The 480 file is pretty much bob on and i'm just uploading a youtube of it playing

yep, long press on the filename in a file explorer, choose rename, change .mov to .mp4 then press the renamed file and open in "Movies" which is the stock player

As you can see it's not quite perfect but it's not bad. The sound is almost non existent but I'm guessing that's not too important
