Coffee

Not a recipe as such but a bit of advice needed, just treated myself to a Jura coffee machine and was wondering if any of you lot can recommend a nice variety of coffee bean.

You're welcome, I stopped short of recommending a coffee as that is very much personal taste, the forum was started by Steve Leighton who also runs HasBean, one of if not THE best online company I use. You can completely trust the cupping notes and delivery is really fast, they are cheaper than the competition and much, much better.

I've just noticed that post pub yesterday evening I ordered a coffee machine and was just about to come and ask the exact same question.

Edit: Generally how many cups will be had from 250g?

Further edit: Generally how long will ground coffee keep in the fridge?

Grind your own as once ground it deteriorates really quickly, Keep the beans in the fridge for no more than 10 days (in my experience}. Buy a burr grinder as a mill with chopper blades will give an uneven grind and overheat the beans spoiling it.

Bloody hell, I've got to grind the beans myself as well?! A sure call that I need to work harder at winning the lottery to employ a Jeeves. I can see this one purchase turning into a rather spendy escapade.

I think I am going to build my inevitable snobbiness slowly, especially considering I will be drinking instant a lot of the time. Especially as I have already worked up a £30 list of coffees from hasbean that I want to try.

Few people have told me you can freeze the stuff for ages but never tried that myself. My sister used to get some nice stuff from whittard when she used to work there.

I have a slightly rounded tablespoon of coffee in my (one mug) cafetiere every morning, but I like my coffee quite strong (currently using Lavazza Rossa).

I just keep my ground stuff in the cupboard in a tin...am I doing it wrong?

Wow .. never knew coffee was so complicated. Though saying that after a quick google I also never knew coffee beans came from a red berry either.

Get a grinder and buy the beans. Keep the beans in the fridge for freshness.

Site not upto much but a great little shop. If you re ever in the West End/Soho give it a go as they sell it by the cup too. If you want it grinding they will grind it also.
I always buy the High Roast and Medium roast specials each month. Some mornings I will make a mixture of them both.

I have a Cuisinart Bean to Mug maker now (program it to grind and brew the coffee for when I wake up) but previously had a Delonghi grinder and cafetiere.
