PC Battlefield 3 Beta Release Date * Rumour*

Hey chaps, I heard a rumour from a reliable source that the Beta release date for the BF3 will be the 12th of September.

People who bought MOH or Pre-Ordered On Origin should have early access from the 9th of September.

If I hear anything more i'll let you guy's know.

Yea I don't think it will be this week. The COD expo is on so I don't think they would want it to clash with that. But never the less it should be awesome when it arrives.

So the BF3 Beta is now closed.

Did anyone play it? I played it and got ranked up to 18th (forgotten the name of the rank). I know it probably all resets, not bothered about that.

However, what I did play of the game was great fun. Lovely detail. Look at flowers close down on the ground and you see the individual petals with good depth. Grass, stonework. All excellent.

Gameplay is great fun. Of course, the snipers... as usual piss me off but on the flip side, the knifing of said snipers is rather excellent fun too . I found the planes an absolute nightmare to fly but then I was using a keyboard. Will have to dust off my joystick as they have integrated proper flying controls. There are tonnes of unlocks and loads of different customisations of the weapons.

What I did find very annoying is that when RPG'ing a jeep, it disabled it. no fkin way, it should obliterate the fker into nothing. I hope they sort that out. Nothing more frustrating than firing an RPG at a light unarmoured vehicle with 3 people in it only to have it roll to a stop, all 3 jump out and cut you to pieces. Mines on the otherhand would destroy it

Anyway, EA say the final product will be a huge improvement on the Beta (Hope so as there were a tonne of bugs which naturally is the point of a beta, to iron those out).

On a final note, the method of game launch is different. It's done via the new Origin application, which launches a web site with all your stats etc. You can see all of your "buddies" whom are playing and join their game simply via the "join {person name}" option. The server browser also, at this point seems to be a massive improvement on any other server browser EA have used as it's not built into the game but also, via the web page.

I thought it was superb mate. I've always been a big fan of BF games, much prefer them to MW/COD games because those games always tend to turn into deathmatches no matter what kind of game you play. BF lets people who are crap at FPS games play, as I can be as productive in the field with an ammo/medkit (or tank ) as anyone with a rifle

The Caspian border map was something else, loved the huge battles on that map, and i'm sure they'll fix loads before the final release. The beta version was a month or two old when they started so bound to have been a load of fixes in by release (and no doubt a few patches in the first weeks ).

I played it on PS3/360 and PC and the PC one is by far the best looking game, the audio as well was tremendous, it looked a bit dated on 360/ps3 in comparison.

Certainly can't wait until launch, do we get it on 25th on Origin?

The only thing which pissed me off about the PC Beta was having to do all that shit in your web browser.. Chrome can get very RAM/CPU hungry at times and I don't want to kill the process each time. What was wrong with selecting servers in-game?

The fact that EA have never managed to get a server browser to work worth a shit in any of their games

I really do like the new server browser setup. I suppose it all depends on what your PC specs are and that I can appreciate. I use Firefox presently and must admit, haven't even looked at the CPU usage as I've not noticed any problems.

It's certainly an interesting method they've used.
