Newton Abbot 15:30 Cappagh
Tony McCoy is Nostringsattached's regular pilot so the fact that the champ has got off Jonjo O'Neill's enigmatic gelding to ride CAPPAGH here speaks volumes. Philip Hobbs' six-year-old has the potential to be much better than this grade and the fact that he hasn't raced since February isn't off-putting as he goes well fresh
4.35 Darasal Wane has shown her best form on softer ground and looks up to winning this off 70. She was placed in a maiden over this CD on soft ground on her only previous course start on her second outing this year. She ran a fine race on her second last start in a 6½f Sligo handicap off 69 when coming from a wide draw and having to be settle in rear. She had to navigate a tough passage to get up for 3rd, finishing less than 2 lengths behind the winner, who was placed off 6lbs higher next time. She put in her best effort on her last start when again having to come a wide draw in a 6½f claimer at Sligo on yieldin to soft. She once again had to take a back position early on before staying on well in the final furlong to go down by a half length from Royal Intruder, a 6yo she was getting just 1lb from. Royal Intruder gave the form a big boost by winning a Galway handicap off 70 next time. Considering how close Darasal Wane got to Royal Intruder last time, she looks well in off 70 today. She should be well suited by the extra half furlong on soft ground and she has a better draw in stall 2 today.
7.35 Sands Cove is by dual group 1 winner Flemensfirth and is a half brother to Brog an Ri who won a 2m1f bumper at Punchestown on soft on his first ever start. Sands Cove was bought for £33,000 in May and sent to Charlie Swan’s. Swan trained the winner of this in 2007 and he has booked Nina Carberry to ride, she has a 25% strike rate on his horses.
