Nani as good as Ronaldo?

Of course not I hear you all say, me included.....but then I saw the below stat which has to at least open the mind enough to consider it.

Ronaldo after 100 games for United: 19 goals 12 assists.
Nani after 100 games: 19 goals 33 assists.

I guess time can only tell

the stats make it look worse than it is though I think, as from 100 games onwards Ronaldo pretty much smashed the premier league every season also he grew into a pure attacker and maybe tended to try and assist less than Nani is made to do. One thing i'll say about Nani though is a couple of seasons ago and part of last season I would have fucked him off for his play acting etc etc. But now I wouldnt let him go, he seems to be maturing and he's certainly a lot stronger and not rolling about on the floor at all to be honest. Just this season I have seen him go shoulder to shoulder with some right big fuckers and put them all on their arses. As good as Ronaldo? Not for me not a chance but he's certainly getting better all the time and he has time to get even better.

Ronaldo was also a boy when he came to us, and whilst nani was young - 20? - he had some more years under his collar. Nani is much improved, and I hope he continues to improve, he is a class player, but ronaldo is a really special player. If nani gets 20 goals this year it will be just amazing - and half what ronnie got for us.

its a good stat but ronaldo he is not. nani has been in and out of the team a lot and also ronaldo can play up front, and properly play there not just a bit part, and he is also such a threat in the air. i think nani is an excellent player but ronaldo is a great player. i mean the thing to see now is his next 100 games, he will not do as much as ronaldo did, having said that if he gets injured united would struggle. one thing i would like to say is that where nani is a little hit and miss (last season where he was good in the first half of the season, but not as effective after valencia came back and was competing with him for that position) ronaldo was always in the team becuase his form never really dipped and he never got injured, i know he got hit and collapsed easily but nani is a bit more fragile and fergie i think had more confidence in ronaldo than he does in nani.

Never be as good as Ronaldo, but then again, not many players will be. The thing is, Ronaldo scored all them goals for United because the whole team was built around him. Nani is more of a winger with license to cut inside and have a few pops at goal. He has improved immesurably over the last couple of years, hope he continues to but he will never be as good as Ronnie

it's a great stat but Ronaldo came on massively after being dubbed a one trick pony with all the step overs etc.

it his total united career he scored 84 goals in 196 appearances, so 65 goals in his last 96 games which a rate Nani can only dream of.

The stats don't lie, but I think Nani has reached his level while Ronaldo kept growing by improving his heading and learning when and when not to showboat. Ronaldo was worth the ticket fee alone to see him on the ball and destroying his opponent, but came at a heavy price as Rooney suffered with not nailing down his best position. United had to play 4-3-3 lots to compensate Ronaldo's lack of teamwork when he didn't have the ball, whereas Nani does his fair share.

I think Nani is too inconsistent still, and will find himself out of the team quite often once Valencia is fully fit as Rooney and Hernadez thrive on the quality deliveries he provides. Nani infuriates his team mates with his selfishness which is often expressed by Rooney! Let's hope he does keep improving!

I don't think Nani has reached his level, and I do think he COULD be better than Ronaldo (in terms of goals scored/shot ratio), but I think Nani needs somebody at the very top of the world game next to him. He is far less greedy than Ronaldo, don't forget, a lot of Ronaldo's goals however good a player, were at the cost of other players scoring, he missed bloody tons to at the same cost. Ronaldo was an exceptional talent at OT, but ultimately he thought he was bigger than the club, I can't see Nani going that way, but as I said, he needs far better players next to him.
