Yeah that's the bit I couldn't do !
what upload do you have i cant do this without glitching. Its all dependent on upload. Dont even try and stream out HD just wont work externally.
I can stream HD fine - the secret here is not to just port forward your VU / Dreambox straight to the internet. The video stream from the sat receiver is RAW and massive in size.
What I do is stream my Dreambox to my PC and then use VLC to Transcode the video so it is compressed.
I then port forward my PC to the internet and connect to the compressed stream.
I use IDreamX on my Mac to do this - however you can do this natively on a PC with VLC or they are some utilities to do it as well.
I am on BT Infinity with a 8mbit upload; however I am only using approx 2mbit when streaming.

Thanks for this info.

Well I could set the streaming to any value for any bandwidth avalible.
Nibb - what is your upstream speed - I don't mind setting it up to match yours and you can test the quality if you want.

Nibb,
Have you got your mbits and MB/s mixed up ? - you have 600kb/s so that would be approx 4.5 mbps
1 Mbps= 125.00 KB/s= 122.07 KiB/s= 450.00 MB/h= 7.50 MB/min= 1.00 Mbps
oE.
My upload speed according to Namesco is 656 kbps (82 KB/sec )

Lol so it was me that got that clac wrong then
either way I'm sure it would work ok at 80k a second - or rather the point I was making is that by transcoding it you can watch an HD channel remotely - obviously the quality will be reduced but it will be watchable without skipping or jumping etc.

Nibb (2nd February 2012)
Well if your gonna lose quality by transcoding you may as well stream the SD channel!
