    scam Halifax Scam

Just got this email looks very real and the site is identical. Obviously the web address is a big give away. I hate to think how many people get done by this scam in a panic.

I got that same email earlier. Like you said, the senders email address gives the game away but I can see people getting taken in by it

ive had loads, they make me laugh.

currently there are all uk banks being targeted, apc, credit cards and more. the giveaway is that your bank will never ask you to log into their site to change anything and certainly not give a link that when rolled over changes to something more often than not hosted in china.

another giveaway is the emails saying something like "Dear Sir" and not having your full proper name. if your bank suspect fraudulent activity they will ring you.

Probably paid a wad from devious Halifax worker for a memory stick with a database of customers on it, along with thousands more people's details. I get quite a few scam mails like that, and first thing I look for is the mouse over url it gives.

I'm guessing they get cheap lists of names and email addresses then send out bulk spam pretending to be from XYZ Bank hoping from the laws of probability to get some bites.

Depending on my mood I reply to these, always giving duff details and including sweary passwords and sometimes ficticious address and phone numbers.

Chances are they don't know who you bank with it was just a random guess and you will start to get lots more from different 'banks'.
