MMORPG NOOOOB

I'm wanting to play an MMORPG to see what it's all about, Before star wars comes out. Never even looked into an MMORPG before never been interested, not interested in WOW. What would you recommend me to try out?

Guildwars, factions Nightfall. Well all of them really as they are a trilogy. and not that expensive too. I play it most nights and its free to play

There's loads of great, free to play MMO's out there these days so you're spoilt for choice. Personally i've always been biased towards EQ2, so EQ2 is free to play, but so is lord of the rings, conan and plenty more. I'm playing RIFT at teh moment, which is superb, but not free to play.

f2p ones cant keep up with the big ones. if you dont want a pay monthly model - try guild wars or wow on a "private" server. still way better than any f2p one.

eve is good but takes ages to get into it properly, i played it for a good few months and only just got promoted from mining rocks lol, but there is so much choice in the games and the galaxy is HUGE !! worth a try out IMO
Im playing RIFT to at the moment just got another 6 months sub down lol

Lord of the rings is my recommendation... now free to play. If you are into Lord of the rings and have a good spec PC, they have done a really good job of recreating the LOTR world.

Another bonus is that isn't any player to player fighting allowed, so if you are a newbie you won't get fucked over by some 12 year old geek who has been playing it for 13 years!

I know you said you're not interested in WoW, but it really is the biggest and best. So many MMO's are supposedly the next 'WoW killer' and they ALL either disappear without a trace or plod along with a tiny fraction of WoW's subscriber base.

The first 20 levels are free to play now also, so you really have nothing to lose......

Ive been playing Atlantica online for the last couple of years. In fact it will be 3 years this Christmas. Free to play and quite a big user base.
