All depends on how you want to access them doesn't it.
Simple folder access on a server isn't going to give you a streaming music option like this does for example.
I see your point though about (strictly) backup. I use a Servage account with stupid amounts of storage for mine - but it's not free.

In terms of the OP saying 'backing up music collection' I don't see any option to re-download?
Future feature or anti-piracy/sharing measure?

Answering my own question.
It's possible to pull them from a cache on an Android device, albeit stripped of artwork and filename.
So guess the practical answer is no then.

I use Servage too. . . . not free but bloody cheap!! I used to host the FTP here on it.

I hope so. I'm going to hang fire putting my full library on there until that feature is on there. Plus the iPhone version of gMusic is a little buggy. All my music doesn't show all the time for instance.

It will also be interesting to see Apple's take on this when they update the iCloud to support music over here.

On the backup up side I do the same with a hostgator account - nearing the upper limit on my inodes where they might start bitching though, hence my other post about hosting recommendations.

Has anyone tried using the Google Music app with their CM7 Touchpad install?

Doesn't work for me, it asks me to authorise it (which I allow), then it just asks me to copy music over to the device locally, won't access my uploaded tracks.
Works fine on my sensation and laptop, just not the Touchpad..... isn't the end of the world as it works through the browser but would prefer to use the app.

You just need to sign up using a US VPN. It's out of beta now but still us only
