Help Removing DRM from iPlayer video?

Does anyone do it/know how to do it properly? I've been running around in circles with it for a couple of days and it's doing my nut in. I settled on using Aimersoft Total Video Converter - which doesn't remove DRM, rather more records the screen. It does a good job, but insists on converting it then, and the audio goes out of skew (suppose I could fix that easy enough really).
It's just some 11 mins long kids stuff that's new and not around anywhere and they're mad about it. I just want to put them on the Popcorn Hour.

    Anyone help me out?

    WM Capture Version 3.1
    Serial also works in v4.0

Record ANY Online Video & DVD's:

WM Capture is the only PC video recording program ever made that captures video from any online source with perfect quality - if you can watch it you can save it. It records video from ANY Web site, regardless of format. It even records DVD's playing on your PC. And because it does not circumvent or hack DRM (Digital Rights Management) or any copy protection technology, it's 100% legal world-wide.

    Amazingly Perfect Picture Quality:

Unlike other screen video capture programs which render choppy videos, WM Capture uses a unique high speed capture technology to create a near perfect reproduction of what you see on screen, playable as a Windows Media Video file. Or, you can use our proprietary MPEG-2 codec for even more outstanding picture quality.

Other screen capture programs cannot process video data fast enough to make acceptable videos. WM Capture's special design uses the most advanced high-speed video processing technology, and the results are amazing. Even the toughest video types like full motion sports play back perfectly.

See for Yourself! The videos below were captured from a popular TV show's online episode player, and a Video-on-demand (VOD) subscription service as WMV (Windows Media Video) files. We think you'll agree they look great. Just click them to play.

    Super-Easy to Use:

It's easy to capture videos by marking an area to record. Just click Get Window, and then move your mouse over the region you'd like to record, and it's highlighted automatically. You can also mark a recording region manually to clip or extend the capture area.

Once you have a rectangle marked, just click the Record button, and play a video to capture it. It's that simple!

Unlike many other versions of this, this one has a serial code for it. It is in the 'Readme' file.

Tunebite is the best solution to remove copy protection from music, audio books and films & then convert it to one of 100 file formats. Since 2004, Tunebite has been mentioned and singled out for excellence in more computer trade publications than any other legal software solution that removes DRM copy protection. Tunebite legally removes the audio DRM copy protection from music & audio books by re-recording it at up to 54x the speed. With either the playback software or Tunebite, additional copyrighted music & audio book files can be copied by using the virtual CD-burner.

Tunebite has one of a kind quality control with “PerfectAudio”, guaranteeing error-free audio output. Tunebite turns the PC into a high-performance, Video DRM converter and ensures the synchronicity of video & audio while the copyrighted video files are played back. In the process, Tunebite legally photographs, frame by frame, the replayed, copyrighted films & saves them in the desired format. Tunebite informs you of the expected output quality of the files to be converted based on the operating system and PC performance & also warns of a loss in quality before converting files on PCs with weaker performance. The quality is also inspected during conversion. After the conversion is complete, Tunebite provides tips, in the rare event that problems do arise, to avoid such problems that may occur. Lots of extras: audio recorder for recording music from web radios (e.g. Last.fm), video recorder for video portals (e.g. Youtube) & automatically finds ID3 tags, album artwork & song lyrics. Files can be played using your own player or with Winamp, Apple iTunes or Microsoft Windows Media Player. Music can be dubbed by synching cell phones, MP3 players, Apple iPods & other portable devices. There is a generator for individual cell phone ringtones. CD burning capabilities for audio CDs, audio DVDs and MP3 CD are also included.

    Features:
    - Copies DRM-protected music and audio books
    - Converts unprotected audio files
    - Customizable audio output profiles
    - High-Speed Digital Dubbing with up to 9 files in parallel
    - Ability to set up a watched, incoming music folder for automatic conversions

    Star mate. Cheers.
I've tried the first one of those and I imagine the others are the same but I'll have a look when I get back to the PC. They seem to be screen recorders and converters the same as this - if so I might as well use this one as it's working (of sorts). I was wondering if there's anyway of doing it without screen recording to be honest, the way you'd strip DRM from say, an ebook. But I think I'm on a hiding to nothing with that. I read some stuff about keys and licenses but I run myself ragged trying to understand any if it - the sites/forum posts I found were all 4-5 years old and about as clear as mud.

    Thanks to Zoots

Just to add I use a torrent site that rips UK kids TV shows from iPlayer en masse. I can't believe they record them all and convert them all perfectly one by one.

I'd deffo like a look at TuneBite mate, yeah.

I've just played around with the codecs in Aimersoft and actually managed to get a good quality video with audio in synch, but I'd appreciate giving another app a try at the moment.

    Cheers.

Cheers mate. I've had a play with it - it will do DRM on music and (presumably) video that's (presumably) not encoded as the iPlayer videos are. Maybe iPlayer stuff is *more* than just DRM, I dunno. The video files you download from iPlayer work for 30 days and only work in the iPlayer desktop application.
Tunebite can grab the media stream (no need really as iPlayer allows you to download it anyway) and give the video to you, or convert it - but it's garbled in both cases.

It can screen record the same as the other one so I'll have a weigh up which does the better job.

    Don't bust a gut mate - really.
After a bit of testing, Tunebite screen grabs and encodes on the fly (the other wouldn't..) so after 11 mins I've got a decent quality XviD.
    I'm right with that.

    Thanks to Zoots

Doubt this still works but renaming the video file used to break the DRM on iPlayer vids Mind you that's going back a few years so I'm sure they sorted that out.

Haha! If only it was that easy mate. The encoded MP4 doesn't even output much in GSpot, beyond the fact it's an MP4 and an ISMA Encrypted/Protected video.

Well, I stumbled upon this and can't quite understand how I missed it before...

    Get_iPlayer.

It pulls the iPhone feeds down which are DRM free. Some of them are supposedly HD so not all low quality (I just grabbed Frozen Planet @ 334mb. Not HD but fine for watching on portable media player).
The ones I want actually are low quality, but they look fine on the kids 26" TV.

    http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer
    This is the original page/author.

The project has been kept up HERE http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer...t_iplayer.html and there's a Windows installer.
You don't need to use a command line, you can use the Web PVR Manager. Basically a search page in the install folder (opens up at http://127.0.0.1) which throws up a list of all manner of anything you search for with umpteen parameters. Click play or record and the FLV file comes down then quickly converts back to the iPhone MP4 format. There's all sorts of discussions about how to get the higher quality files but I'm not there just yet.

The post above. Really is the best and as far as I know the only sure fire way.
I've had some success with screen capping too.
