Tech Media Player compatible with BBC iPlayer advice

hi, the gf's old man wants to play iPlayer on his new tv. It had an ethernet connection on the back and so i was hoping it would have access to Panasonics web interface but seems not and the ethernet is only for firmware updates.
So, he I said why not use a media player/streamer an watch with that..

It needs to be simple to use and relatively cheap..around £100 mark..

    I've seen the Sony:

    http://www.google.co.uk/products/cat...ed=0CHYQ8wIwAA

but a few having bad reviews of it, I always thing of Sony as a good brand, the other things we have by Sony are great..

so, looking for something along those lines please..
    any advice appreciated
    cheers

it's certainly an option, cheers, but the Sony SMP-N100 has wireless already built in...the player would need a usb dongle or homeplugs at an added cost..
I'll keep it in mind and see what the gf's thinks her dad would prefer..

    XBMC supports iplayer apparently http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayerv2/

If you don't mind setting it all up for him then check out the Linux PC I posted in oE's wanted thread in the BST. £120 brand new but you get a fully fledged PC so very flexible for future add-ons and you can update the software etc.

    Thanks to evilsatan
