    Help IP Camera remote access

Right i have bought my fos camera - EasyN F series off amazon.

I have sorted the wireless on it and all working fine on my home pc via the ip address.

How do i access this camera externally? as what i have read something about ip forwarding? is there a quicker / free way of doing this? i have gone to the website and applied the username i have on the box but it says account does not exist?

    any help will be appreciated

    cheers

your router should have ip forwarding

basically means that when you connect to your external ip address the router connects you to the lan ip device.

    Thanks to Zippeyrude

no in the port forwarding you add the camera ip

so if for example router is 192.168.0.1 and ip cam is 192.168.0.3 you put 192.168.0.3 as the forwarded port.

then when you connect to your external ip (say 213.121.143.322 for example) instead of getting your router setup screen (that is normally what you'd see) you will be forwarded to the ip cam.

    Thanks to Zippeyrude

I have set the forwarding on my router to ip address of the ip camera

i have then gone into the settings within dyndns and set my external ip address to the url i have created. but it still takes me directly to my routers home page

that suggests the router forwarding isnt quite working

try connecting directly to the external ip address from outside your network, ie with a phone 3g connection

if it still takes you to the router the forwarding settings arent quite right yet

got to be something i am doing wrong at the router end. i have placed within the router settings the ip cameras ip address. when i go to my url setup via dyndns it just takes me to the routers home page still.

i have also tried assigning the device the ip address within port forwarding but still dont work.

    anyone got a hammer lol

have you connected to your external ip from a different network, i.e outside of yours?

i dont think that is the issue but worth eliminating

router will be on port 80, that is what you are seeing

is the ip camera running on a different port number if so

    PHP Code:
    http://ipaddress:portnumber

Basic Network Settings - Http Port

change the Http port on the camera to 8080, then on the router forward port 8080 to the ip address of the camera, once you have changed the http port you will have to access the camera using http://ipaddress:8080

see if you have DDNS Service Settings to setup dydns.

Right here goes, i am starting from sratch and deleted all previous work done last night on this blinkin camera lol.

    1) I have created my dyndns account and got my http://nikkiloveshiscameras settings.dyn........
    2) I have got access to my hub port forwarding on bt home hub, i can see the camera on the wireless settings but when i try and assign it it still forwards me to my hub page
    3) i have deleted any settings previous on the camera after last night, to start from scratch.

    So,

If my external ip address A and the ip address of the camera is B,

I should apply A to the dyndns account within the host? then B should be applied within the port forwarding settings of the bt homehub?

Yep - if you are saying you access the camera internally by going to http://cameraip:81 then forward port 81 as you described, then try to access http://externalIP:81 and see if it works. Some crappy routers won't let you access http://externalIP:anyportnumber unless you actually are accessing externally (i.e from your iphone). Once you get your dyndns also working then you would access http://nikkiloveshistcamerasdyndns......:81 but try and see it working on the ip address first.

Also check the docs on whether you need to open any other ports.
