I would advise trying it out quickly first - I got a pioneer a year or two ago and was really looking forward to using dlna. All worked sweet except there is no pause button so now we just plug a laptop in instead.

    I use these mate:

    http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline-500av-index.htm

They're stable and do the job - haven't had any problems and have been using them for nearly a year now so all is good! Just make sure you plug them straight into the wall socket where possible, although saying that I do have one plugged into a four gang and it works - although the throughput of that one is much slower than if it was in the wall, but luckily it's the one hooking the router up so that's the bottleneck still there.

I agree with overcarl, find out what features the TV actually has before you invest in something else. I bought a blu-ray DLNA enabled player thinking it would do a lot, but it's more limited in it's network features such as fast forward, reverse etc. so hardly use it for it's network capabilities now.

I use them with my DLNA tv and they work great, I've tried them straight in the wall and also through a 4 gang plug and didn't really see much difference in speed to be honest but they worked either way.

These are the ones I've got, 35 notes for a twin pack of 200Mbps adapters:

I got some from Ebuyer for my Sony -work great, but the features on the telly aren't brilliant. I watch Iplayer, but you can't get 4od or ITV player.

If you get some go for the solwise like reverend posted. I had 200mbps plugs but they would not stream HD, the 500mbps pass through piggy model from solwise works a treat and they are very cheap compared to larger brands.

I have never really looked in to these as I have always gone wireless or ethernet.

How do these work? are they a direct connection to each so if I have the TV and a pc on power adaptors do I need to have 2 power adaptors at the point where the switch/router is?

Just one at the router or switch and then one at the device, or one near several devices eg under TV with another switch, eg Xbox, media player, sky box into a switch then into one adaptor

ok, a pair have been ordered from solwise. Lets see what the new tv can do when it gets here. are they intern changable could I buy say a single belkin adaptor and it will work with the solwise or is it a case of your stuck to one brand once you start?

Well just to update I went with the solwise 1GB power line adaptors and they are so easy to set up plug in press the button on each one and away it goes, I am considering replacing the wireless connections on the 2 PC's upstairs with them.

Network functionality on the TV is pretty good actually, I just wish it had ITV player and 4oD and it would be perfect. plays the divx stuff I download and music from windows medial player library so no problems there.

what speeds are people getting on the 500 and gb ones?

iirc the 200 ones only actually give you 80.

I've been using 2 and since my unraid server read/write times are a lot less than 80 they're more than capable.

The 1Gbps ones I've seen are actually slower than the 500Mbps ones, although that is because they are using a Gigle chipset which isn't as good as the Atheros 7400 they use in the 500Mbps ones.

I think they're actually 250Mbps Full Duplex - so they quote 500Mbps - SMB traffic is definitely slower over them than just plain old FTP traffic though - I'll do some benchmarking to see how they look mate
