I've been hoping I could claim on a mortgage I had between 2000 and 2004 from the kensington mortgage company - I rang them and the girl was quite helpful she located my mortgage details and confirmed I had taken out PPI with them - she then realised I was going to ask about claiming and said Id have to ask for a copy of my mortgage agreement in writing and they would send me a copy out with all the details on - I duly did this using a template letter from another forum and sent it off recorded delivery - now Ive just got a letter from them saying my account is not regulated under the consumer credit act 1974 and consequently they are not releasing the information requested

So Im guessing Im screwed? or is there any hope?

I would repost that question over at the moneysavingexpert.com forum. They know there stuff over there. They will be able to tell you if it is worth escalating your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Got to be worth the few mins it takes to sign up.

Got just over £600 on my card refunded for what I guess is my claim. Not had a letter off them telling me how it was worked out or a offer of compensation. Should I have got one first?

mat6e i called them yesturday takes them up to 8 weeks to send an offer letter then you have to reply to either except or reject in writing, if you accept it can take another 4 weeks to receive the money

    hope this helps

About 5 or 6 years. I'd cancelled the ppi about a year ago when I realised they wasn't charging me in line with what I was told.
Biggest question is shouldn't I have had an offer or a letter first?

You need to give a reason. Ie: had ample other cover, didn't know it had been put on, not explained correctly, etc. you cant just say missold.
