New BlackBerry PlayBook owner. Please advise !

hi,

due to the Currys fire sale, I've picked up a BlackBerry PlayBook.
This is my first BlackBerry device and I've no clue whatsoever what I need to do.

Where do I start ?
What do I need ?

I'm sure there will be a few new owners over the next few days so any advice gratefully received.

Go here and input your details for access to the OS 2 Beta : https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/...et20/register/
You can then install the firmware directly via the software update option on the playbook.

Apart from that I haven't had much time to try anything else..hopefully someone has worked out how to install Android apps....and maybe a recommendation on a good email app?

ok so I have installed the os2 beta and I am now reading this site http://www.filearchivehaven.com/2011...-loading-apps/
it seems apk files are converted for the BB PB

Hey guys about once you register your device for the os2.0 beta you need to wait 24 hours before rolling back.
Once installed download the app DDPB installer from the post above.

Then
1. Put your playbook into development mode (Click Settings then Security you will see it there)
2. Create your password.
3. Connect to pc (But dont open Blackberry Desktop Manager)
4. Run the installer that you downloaded.
5. On the left handside you will see it asks for an IP address and password. If you click refresh the ip address should auto appear
6. Goto to hear for Bar file http://bit.ly/apk2bar
7. Once you have seen a Bar file you like download and extract.
8. On DDPB installer click add and navigate to your Bar file.
9. Click Install

Guys this for the more advanced users, took me a while to get my head round converting apk files to Bar and then signing them with the keys, so here is the link to register for your very own set of keys to sign apps.

Ok, i have signed up and created my first few BARS, they work very nicely!

if anyone has any they would like converting just send me the APKs and ill do them for you.

So far i have done the below APKs and they seem to work fine.

Logitech Squeezebox Control (the official one)
SABMobile
Tapatalk Pro
Squeeze Player (haven't tested as not at home)
Road Trip
Fruit Ninja
Plantz Vs Zombies
Rock Player
Angry Birds / RIO / Seasons
UPNP Player (not 100% if it works)

Just picked one up from pcw have to say out the box I'm impressed! Having only had my hands on an advent Vega before this thing is how I imagined that was, can't wait to get to work so I can get time to play

its on the list as working but how about ES file explorer have you done that one or do you use it ? I see you using SABmobile is that like sabnzb that I use on my mac ?

I've still not had enough time to play, so excuse the nooby questions. These BAR files, do they require a jailbroken PB or can you install them on the standard 2.0 beta ?

As for APK's to be converted, I'd love for the Kindle one if you can manage it ?

as far as I can see, the most compelling reason for the jailbreak at the moment is to get full android market access ?
