Norwich City will open contract talks with Jonny Howson after Leeds "reluctantly" accepted an undisclosed offer for the midfielder.
The 23-year-old, who has featured 22 times this season, is out of contract in the summer.
Howson is a product of the Leeds academy and has gone on to make 225 appearances for the Elland Road club.
Leeds say discussions with Howson over a new deal - which have spanned 12 months - have been unsuccessful.
In a statement the club added: "We have reluctantly accepted the offer on the basis that the player only has six months of his current contract remaining and has expressed a desire to play Premier League football at the earliest opportunity."
The Leeds captain has not played since picking up a knee injury in the 2-0 win over Millwall at the beginning of December.
Canaries boss Paul Lambert has yet to strengthen his side in the January transfer window, as he looks to maintain the Norfolk cub's position in the top half of the Premier League.
Should Howson move to Norwich he will link up with former team-mate Bradley Johnson, who switched to Carrow Road from Leeds in the summer.
Meanwhile, Norwich defender Ritchie de Laet has returned to parent club Manchester United after having his loan spell terminated five months early.
The 23-year-old Belgian has played seven times for the Canaries but has not featured since the 2-0 Premier League loss to Tottenham on 27 December.
