    Weird Weird Laptop boot problem

If I restart this HP Pavillion DV9000 that I'm using It will switch off power up again but nothing comes up on the screen then it powers down again then it repeats the cycle.

It works fine if I hold the power button down for like 5 seconds to power it up.

Also there are verticle lines on the post screen and in the bios screen which arn't there in windows. Is it related?

Sounds like a possible faulty GPU with the lines. What windows version is it? I have seen XP restart itself when shut down, not vista or 7 though.

It did have windows vista on but I've just installed win7 x64. It just gets stuck in some loop of lights go on then hear fan then go off and it goes quiet. this continues untill I hold down the power button.

That mean it will need reflow? would that effect the boot up
