Help New Office - Wireless Access Points best locations

    Hi guys,

I have been tasked to install a new wireless solution for our new office, what I would like to know is what is the best way in going about this. I need to find the best places throughout the new office for the access points.

Any advice would be apprecaited .

    Thanks

i guess the best starting point is the size and layout of the office. Once we know that than you can make a start.
Is everything going to be wireless? PC's and printers for example. are your pcs and printers going to be completely wifi enbabled ?

Pcs and printers will be hard wired. The access points will only be used to provide staff with wi-fi access (Worked issued phones) access to wi-fi to save them using the data allowance on their mobile plans. Also we would like to set up guest wi-fi access so that clients can connect to the wi-fi, but keeping this away from our main network. I have purchased a Draytek router for this, my main reason in posting is what would be the simplest way to test wi-fi coverage around the building without spending out on anymore hardware.

I have purchased one access point which works on b/g/n and runs at 300mbs, the plan is to have maybe 2 of these per floor.

Number of staff around 50 over 5 floors

I test the signal using wififofum on my iPhone, if they are work issued phones I assume they are all the same model so use that to test signal strength. The iPhone stock wifi for example will not pick up networks unless the signal is x strength whereas wififofum will show all networks in range. Best to use the iPhone wifi app in this case to ensure everyone can connect in the furthest away areas.

I had that problem but got around it eventually, are you trying to get 2.1.6 from the BigBoss repo? IIRC that error is just because the repo is getting hammered, probably due to the A5 jailbreak on Friday.
