sure i already know the answer to this but would you reckon this is a fake card?
it was ordered and sold from play.com NOT from playtrade dealer but actually play.com themselves

anyone???
Doubt Play would sell a fake card but fakes have been known to enter the supply chain. What makes you think it may be a fake? What are the read/write speeds like? Is the capacity as it should be?
I would take it up with them.

what makes me think it is fake is that there was no retail packaging, the picture above is how it arrived, and the card has no branding on it, i have a couple of pny cards and the card is branded, but i dont know if thats the case with all their cards. I am going to take it up with them but if they are sending out 'fake' cards then legs need slapping, i mean joe bloggs gets a stint in jail for distributing copyrighted material what puts play above the law??
I got exactly the same card from play and did wonder this myself, works fine and because of the price I thought sod it.

I sell these all the time at work, ALL PNY stuff has the name on it. The PNY Micro SD cards should look like this:

Also, PNY don't sell MicroSD cards without the SD Card Adapter (The Rep from them said something about it being cheaper to sell it with the adapter than without, whether it's bullshit, I do not know). Based on this, I would say it's a fake.

if the other 2 that i purchased were not just 2 quid more retail packed class 10 and free film download (though the films are shit) i wouldnt have but 2 quid less for a fake card is a bit of a piss take.
thanks m8, yeah the other cards i have came with an adapter.
Just been in PC World and they had PNY cards with the Optima writing on the packaging - no branding on the card and no SD adapter either from what I could tell!
I took a photo too mate so I can stick it up if you like - the orientation is different to yours though!

Here you go mate, wrong orientation but it gives you the idea, the packaging was totally different to the ones at the other side with PNY on the card itself - this was just in the local PC World, I was having a nosey for SD card prices when I remembered this thread

It does look suspect but maybe by having no frills packaging they are passing on the production cost saving?

thanks m8... hmmmmmmmm that muddies the water a bit. i have spoke to play and they say that they cant say if its genuine or not, when pressed on why they would let cards enter the distribution chain that they didnt know were genuine that said they dont pack the items so they dont know what gets sent out :-/
possibly i guess but surely the cards are distributed by pny retail packaged, so the reseller would just sell on like that?? i have just sent an email to pny anyway to see i i can get to the bottom o this.
