Laptop Screen/GPU/Boot/Youtube Problem?

I'm having some odd Laptop problems this month!

Check this video and give me your thoughts.
I'm sorry I'm not the greatest cameraman, had to use my phone, but you should get the gist.
I've had it apart and checked the cable to the screen and seems fine, but I will be replacing it anyway.

Screen is fine, although there is what I would call 'rolling' on it (screen problem perhaps?).

It displays Windows interface fine, but booting and playing Videos' causes interference.



Any other ideas? Stripping it again at the moment.

Does it do it on an external display? That will rule out the graphics chip.

I assume you have updated drivers and bios although I doubt they are the cause.

I would suggest loose or faulty video cable or LCD. If the inverter was playing up it should just flash rather than distort.

Holy crap. Good call wakadoo.

Turning the Brightness right down stops it, turning it up full makes it go mental, but mainly only when its playing videos.
Only Windows with Full brightness does flicker, but not as bad as when video is playing. Screen?

i think evil may be right with the inverter m8..

Or a loose cable, I had a netbook in with a similar problem caused by a loose video cable. Brightness lowered helped but reseating it fixed it.

Quick update on this.
I stripped the laptop down again tonight and and took another gander at the screen - which is in perfect condition.

It's a Samsung LTN173K01-T01 and no amount of hunting helped locate an invertor board, so my guess is, it's integrated with the screen. Can anyone confirm this with this screens model?
As mentioned above, the Laptop is a Toshiba L670D-13F (Chapter 4.23) and service manual has no mention of one either...!

This says to me, if I eliminate the loose connection possibility, it's going to be a replacement screen on this occasion.

Going to try and wiggle some leads (and check their condition) and see if it stops flickering.

I have a c660 in atm and there is no separate inverter, all built into the display.
