Help PC wont go after power cut

We have just had a power cut, power is back on now but my PC wont go.

When the power came back on I tried to start it and the red HDD light started to flash and one of the DVD Drives light started to flash so unpluged it for 5 mins and tried again but now nothing.

When I plug the power cord in the fans spin for a fraction of a second but when I press the power button on the PC nothing happens also clicking the mouse wont start it either.

Is it more likely to be the PSU or the mobo that is fooked.

    Thanks

More likely to be the PSU but when they blow they can damage other components too. Have you tried disconnecting everything from the PC apart from power and monitor? Also disconnect everything from the mobo apart from power and RAM. You could clear the CMOS using the jumper pins as a test too.

If there are phase LEDs on the mobo then they may help you fault-find when reading the mobo user manual. Dell machines have these lights on the front usually labelled ABCD or 1234 but others are SMDs on the mobo.

    Thanks to evilsatan

Just put the PSU into an old PC and it wont start it either so I will try a new PSU and see what happens.

    Thanks

No problem, if it's a valuable machine consider a UPS to protect against damage but if there is important data on the machine make sure you have a form of backup whether it be a disc, external HDD or cloud I store my important data on a RAID5 NAS and have a UPS to protect it from power surges.

Good stuff ss30 - this happened to me on one of my PCs a few years back and I wasn't so lucky. It fried the CPU and memory It was a cheapo PSU though so I only have myself to blame (£20 including a case!)
