Tried the Developer Preview version last week.
It's really geared up towards touchscreen devices and ruins the experience for normal desktops IMO.
It lasted about 3 hours on my PC before I wiped it and went back to 7. The desktop environment is there, but feels like an after thought.
It's not terrible, just very different to using Windows 7 and will take some getting used to. It's not going to have the same impact as Windows 7 did with Vista.
As for your question, I didn't have any real problems with it for the 3 hours I tried it.
Just took some time to get used to, I would say stable enough to use, but is still early days.

The Developer Preview is almost 6 months old now. The consumer preview is out on Wednesday and should show a much more finished product

Full win8 install is a bit of overkill just for storage IMO.
I ran the dev preview as well for a few months on a netbook, and it was okay. Hated metro tho. Definately more for touch screens in that respect.
