BTInfinity Is it Worth It?

Decided to give it a go last night after hearing all the good stuff here cheers guys, shame BE don't offer anything but they're saying it'll be next year now - so decided to give Infinity a go! Perfect timing too as off to look after my mum for a couple of months two days after it's installed so the massive boost in upstream will come in handy for accessing stuff at home

Also read earlier that they dropped the 300GB cap off of Option 2 yesterday as well!

The 300gb cap was ditched a year ago now .
They made no Official announcement at the time, but a staffer posted it in the bt care forums last year.

Just installed this morning, the line checker said that I'd only get around 35/6 but it's currently running at 60/16 so I'm happy with that! Just downloaded a test film at 6MB/sec so it's four times faster downlink and ten times uplink than my BE connection, if it stays like this I'll be well happy!

I've downloaded the unlocked firmware for the Huawei HG612 but I'm going to leave it for a few weeks to settle and not upset the DLM and then I'll bung it on and have a play

He called at 8am to say he was about to do the work at the cabinet and my BE line was still up, he did the cabinet work and was at mine 15 mins later, so can't argue with that as my internet was down literally for minutes!

You won't affect the training powering the router off to flash the firmware

Nice one thanks mate, wasn't sure, might as well give it a go later on tonight then So far it's looking great, TS sessions to work over VPN are way more responsive, this really is a nice upgrade

Also make just check and see if you have an Eci modem first !!

No mate it's the Huawei, first thing I did when he opened the box was to Google it to see what I could do with it

All done mate, well happy with that, swapped out the HH3 for a Cisco E4200v2 while I was at it too!

Looking at the stats it's showing as synced at 79999/20000 and shows the attainable speed as 99750/36250, so fingers crossed there's room to breathe when it comes around to the next round of upgrades too!

Has you line been enabled recently ? I used to get attainable rate of 125mb but that has dropped to 84mb recently but when by migrate to 30a profile data rates will shoot up again

Only literally this morning mate, seeing a few HEC and FEC errors so it'll probably retrain down over the next two weeks I guess?

Well guy's finally bit the bullet and went to BTinfinity its fantastic! they do throttle P2P at peak times and if anyone has a work around for this please let me know otherwise I'm delighted

No they throttle P2P all the time !!! especially if you use the standard P2P ports

Make sure your incoming port is set above 60000 and you have encryption enabled you down load speed should max out the connection provided the torrent is well seeded

Uploads seem to be permanently caped

Thanks mate, If I download anytime from say 6am to 3:30pm I get a solid 7/8mb via Utorrent. After 4m it drops to 750kb which I was used to before BTInfinty which I'm not too bothered about
