Do you mean the Cable Modem or Router? Any decently written article/tutorial on how to do this? :-D

Thank's mate, I'll maybe telnet the router first. I can remember the guy asking me if I worked for bt because I was getting the full 80mb down and 20mb up when he was testing the line. Does this firmware prevent the throttling of P2P at all?

    DAM IT!

Had a text this afternoon. Not going to get my BT Infinity installed until AFTER my phone line has been 'activated' on the 24th May now.
Not sure what the deal is, but BT have said I need to have my line transferred over from Sky first, then arrange to have BT Infinity installed by an OpenReach engineer.
I always thought that it was a simple flick of a switch to go from BT to Sky or vice versa. Clearly not.

They reckon, once the phone has been transferred, I'll be 'fast-tracked' the engineers appointment. Equipment is still due to arrive on the 22nd.
I will supposedly get a call on the 25th to arrange an engineer to come and fit my gear!

Not a great start with BT (again), just hope they live up the their promises.
Been told, I might be without Broadband for upto 7 days during the change over. Not Happy!

It's laughable how annoyed you guys get with BT for the time it takes when you openly admit you haven't a clue what the process is.
No, contrary to popular belief, there's no magic switch the engineers flick.

Just relax, let the process happen in time, and enjoy the excellent speeds you were dreaming of just a few years ago.

I did mean the phone line. I can accept I need to have stuff done for the Broadband.

I needed a BT Line to sign up to Sky, which Sky had activated within 48hours of moving in.
This place originally was on Virginmedia, but a BT Line already existed as well.

Why do I need to wait almost 2 weeks to have it switched back to BT if they already have my Migration Access Code from Sky (permission to go ahead)?

Sky have sent the letter saying Sorry to see you go - Blah Blah.
Just excited to get it and getting impatient I suppose!

    I'm confused.

I checked samknows and my exchange has a June date. Run through the BT checker and it says I can have it now. Problem is, I'm with sky and right now, I'm tempted to throw the whole lot in but would need something to supplement my satelite viewing. well I say mine, I mean the kids as most of what I watch is either terrestrial recordings or downloads from the states.

DV's issues with moving from Sky is a put off, but on the flip side, it has to be worth the pain.

It's just booking the engineer mate, I has provisional dates of the same day and got the same rubbish, mine was further delayed with me going on holiday but its worth the wait honestly

Well the PDF on there tells me my exchange is AO (Accepting Orders) so it's a goer! Looks like this is the end for sky for me

Now to sort the TV side of things out....

I can, but my bill is currently over £90 each month. If I watch 1 movie a month on there it'll be lucky. I only watch the sports for the odd game of footy and most of what's watched is kids or terrestrial. I may drop to minimum package + HD for the F1 or I've been thinking about dreambox/vu duo+ system but haven't a clue where to start with that.

That way, I can drop from £90+ to around £50 a month with no loss of service. If I could get F1 and kids stuff elsewhere it could all go and i'll use BT for the fast stuff

I'm keeping Sky for TV only but dropping the useless package. Just keeping the 'Entertainment Package' which is one step up from Freeview.

Kinda thinking Sickbeard and Couchpotato will like my new BT 50Mb broadband connection anyway.

if you dont like the BT home hub you can use any WAN router. I am using the DLINK 615 with custom DDWRT. works fine. imo probably better than draytek
