On my 4s I just go to settings and turn on the personal hotspot. Not sure if it's on other iPhones I'd need to go look.

thanks for the reply mate, I tried looking for that feature a while back but when I select it on mine it mentions about going to the o2 website to set it up and if I go to the site is says "file not found".
Is the personal hotspot free? If so I may call them up.

I believe its carier dependant if the setting for personal hotspot shows up or not. I know mine disappeared for a day when I first started doing it but all sorted now (im on Three). I know o2 used to charge £10 to tether but i'm sure that changed after I left them

    Thanks to dannyboy

I've just been reading on the o2 forum, I think it is free and I need to upgrade my tariff as I may be on an old tariff. will give them a call tomorrow.

    Thanks for the help.

regardless if its free or not (which i think its not as we talking about 02 here) - be careful as o2 will hit u with a big bill.
You only allowed 750 mb each month and thats on unlimited (you can push it nearer a gig but they will charge in end
    I should know,ive been billed.

Im now off 02 and on the eat all you can eat data plan from 3

Google Three (phone company) and look at all the you can eat data plan

Thats for letting me know Itsme, the usage will be very rare as most of the time I have access to wifi networks.

I havent got an ipad yet but thinking about getting the new one, and wanted to know if this was possible as I've read the 4g wont even work over here because when released the frequencies will be different.

Just to let anyone know, I spoke to o2 today, they advised it is free, doesnt extend your contract and it comes out of your allowance, there are 2 tariffs available, £47 for 500Mb or £51 for 1Gb. However the advisor told me to hold off till next month as o2 are changing their tariffs and the new ones will be better than these.

    check out this link :

if you got the phone already then this plan seems like the one to get.

See this thread, I paid £10 for my sim and set it up in store. Free 3G for 6 months. Read my posts within, it's still going strong on my iPad.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still in contract so changing is not an option at the moment, as for the sim the reason I initially wanted this way was to avoid buying a 3g ipad and instead buy one that was wifi with more storage. Plus I wouldn't use the 3g that much on it so knowing it can be done from my phone as and when is what I was after.

I'm hoping by changing their tariffs (o2) they offer something along the lines of unlimited seeing as the other networks are starting to offer that, however they've recently moved away from unlimited so can't see them going back.

Havent brought one yet, just checking all my options, I'd rather go for more storage and wifi than less storage and 3g, there will be odd occassions where I will need to use some form of internet and have no wifi, so wanted to know if it was possible first before purchasing and then regretting the purchase down the line when I need 3g.

Think im definately going to go for wifi only though.
