Windows keeps turning off

I recently had to reinstall my laptop, but the recovery partition wouldn't work, so I formatted the whole disk and installed from a DVD I had lying around

It runs no bother now, but if I leave it running overnight - downloading or something, it keeps shutting down and killing my downloads

I have set everything in control panel to never shut down, ever, but still every morning I go to check and the damn thing is asleep and my downloads have been interrupted

Am I missing something or have I buggered it up?

Download a program called whocrashed, this will scan the minidump folder for a memory dump and show you what it thinks caused it.

Other than that could be power or thermal related.

Also check the system logs in the control panel.

I think I might have located the problem

Even though it is supposed to stay on forever, the option to require a password was greyed out and clicked on
I changed it and hopefully tonight it should run smoothly

When I looked through the event logs, I could see that it appeared to be on all night, but at 00:50 it went into a logon cycle right up to when I fired it up this morning

Cheers for the tips - helped me to pin it down pretty sharpish!
