Default BT Home Broadband / BT FON - £15 anyone?

    Strange request here...

I'm without internet at home for a week whilst Sky install my new BB. I do however have a BT FON/ Hotspot right outside my flats.

Is anyone willing to lend me their BT log in for a week for £15?

That's very kind of you ES.

Very much appreciated. Crazy how reliant we are on the internet these days, considering how long it's been around in my lifetime.

Tell me about it, if that doesn't work I think I have another account for BT hotspots too.

I'm currently sat on my balcony overlooking a sun drenched marina. It's 18 degrees I'm on the iPad and we have a BT Hotspot at the bottom of my flats. I couldn't be more greatful right now.

BTFon/Openzone/BT Hotspots are subscription based so anyone can use them. You connect to the network which has no password and open a browser and it asks you to login or pay for an account. BT customers get free public wifi with most broadband packages.

I did use the PAYG style one once when I first moved in. It's shockingly slow and scandalously expensive.

I don't remember receiving emails when I use my account but I delete so much each day I can't say for sure.

The FON network isn't just a BT thing, FON operate worldwide and anyone can plug a FON compatible router on any line, but it hasn't really kicked off in this country except with BT.

From what I read earlier, BT customers used to have to actually opt in to it being used, but if you now sign up as of middle of March with BT for BB, then your Router is automatically opted as 'in' regarding the BT FON issue so maybe see more points popping up here and there. From the ones I've looked at in the firmware, it's now set on as default.

I'm sure I read that BT Business Hubs came with it preenabled a while back - round central london you get openzone points pretty much everywhere.
