Default Bicycle GPS Transmitter with 'An App for that'?

Just before Xmas, some smack head robbed my boys bike from outside the shop.
He got caught on CCTV and is now going to court...

The cops have said in not so many words, that we may get compensated, but it could take a long while.

Anyway, I want to make sure this shit doesnt happen again as I've just got a great bargain on a couple of almost new Dunlop Sports mountain bikes.

Is there a cheapish GPS transmittor I can get that will permanently let me know where these bikes are via GPS and can track on my Galaxy S2 with Android and Windows 7.
Perhaps even a GPS Dog Collar tracker for example?

Anyone using anything like this or similar they can lend me some advice with.
These bikes were only £120 each new, but far too many light fingered little shits in my area and I'd give my left nut to be able to track one of these fuckers via GPS and beat the living shit out of them...

Or at least tell the cops where my bike was so they could go pick it up.

Not that I like pointing out the fricking obvious, but this is not the way "to make sure this shit doesnt happen again".... this is the way to let the horse bolt the stable(again) and then run around like a hound dog sniffing for horse turds!

I think you'll find that putting a big mofo lock on the stable door is actually the way "to make sure this shit doesnt happen again"! (although buying bikes with the words "Dunlop" embossed across them is almost as good!)

    Thanks to MsDG

The bike that was nicked was a Dunlop. It's not worth buying decent or expensive bikes around here, especially for my kids.
Although they are cheap, they are good looking bikes and perfect for my teenagers,

And I don't want to have to keep replacing them every few months.

I know what your saying about locking the bikes up and they usually are, but this area is swarming with thieving toe rags and 'big Mofo locks' wont stop them when they wander the streets with bolt croppers in their back pocket.I just want the upper hand should it happen again rather than being clueless and bikeless.

@ jag, Would appreciate any info you can get. Cheers.

The dog collars afaiw are simply recording devices. If you want to find out where its been then you download from the collar once its come back home.

What your looking for is something that lets you know where it is.

Thats going to cost you some monthly payment to the mobile phone networks to keep sending you the data, and a pretty big battery to power the gps and transmitter all day, and you can bet your bottom dollar that your going to be recharging it very often.

Pretty pointless if you lose your dog then, strange buying a GPS locator just to know where he's been. Defeats the object.

Should be called a GPLS. "Global Position Logging System", with the tag line, if he's missing, tough.

Yeah because you offered to sell a member something outside of the BST forum. Plus you are not VIP so you couldn't sell even in there.

As an owner you should know where the little fekkers been because you shouldn't be letting the flea infested shitbox out of the house unless your attached to it with a lead!
Anyone who bought one of these should get their details immediately sent to the Dog Warden

This looks useful, it would obviously cost with data charges, http://www.instamapper.com/
