got my s3 (white) yesterday
initial thoughts are very good, it's a very nice upgrade to my s2 with a good number of improvements. The screen is definitely better and its smoother throughout. Light bleed around the soft buttons is disappointing but not a deal breaker. Battery life seems very good after my first 24h use, at least as good as my s2.
happy so far...

I'm very happy with mine, not missing my iPhone at all now tbh, battery life is about same as my 4s I'd say, camera's not quite as good but still more than usable. Loving "tasker" app, let's me switch stuff on/off when I get home or it detects my wifi etc. very cool, got it rooted in about 30 seconds too.
I don't know what modem firmware yours is on but I was getting random periods of no data throughput on NELE4. I have flashed my baseband to XXLE8 and am finding it better.

Mine is on XXLEF and not noticed any problems tbh. Not played with any custom roms yet, not found a need to. I've used root uninstalled to disable a load of Samsung bloat.
Just off the phone, mine will take 30 days to be delivered.. managed to get 600 free mins, 1gb data, unlimited text, unlimited BT openworld, two swapables and a free phone for 27 a month.. 18 month contract... 30 day wait for a new toy though... Boo.. I have had the desire now for nearly 3 years so 30 days won't seem too bad. The white one would have been a 7 day wait.

This is my first android phone and I already hate it. The predictive tx is totally shit as is the signal. Wtf is h+, I've never seen 3g once and I'm In London.
I so wanted this phone to be everything I wanted it to be but it's not. The big screen is awesome but that's it. It even has a dead pixel that I know apple would exchange no questions asked yet Samsung will only send it away for repair
H+ is better than 3G mate. It goes 2g, edge, 3g, h, h+
As for predictive text you can install any keyboard you want, I'm using Swype

Lol, thanks guys I'm sure it will be better than iPhone if I give it chance.
Where's this H+ come from I've never heard of it
Your right. I was always up with all the new tech until Apple came along, now I know very little
From memory H is HSDPA and is 7Mb/s maximum and H+ is HSUPA which is 21Mb/s maximum.
H+ is a very good thing to be seeing but your actual throughput depends on the number of currently connected users in your area.

Just woke up and found my battery had drained about 25% overnight. Fired up betterbatterystats and the phone had been kept awake by a process "usbstorageunmountter" (that's how it was spelt).
Seems there's a legacy bug in some Samsung roms where if you use a USB otg cable to connect a USB drive, even if you unmount it properly, the service never stops running and prevents the phone going into deep sleep.
As with other roms, the only thing that stops this is to reboot the phone, which I've just done and now cpuspy reports the phone is going to sleep fine. Just something to bear in mind if you ever find yourself using USB sticks with your gs3
Cheers,
Malty

My Pebble Blue S3 is out for delivery...!
Mobile networks in order of speed - gprs < edge < 3g < hsdpa < hsupa < hspa+
Sounds like you lot are lucky enough to get hspa+ (not all networks support it - I think it's only voda and 3 in limited areas as you have to run fibre optics to the masts to support the data xfer rates).
I've seen a voda dongle on hspa+ shitting over my old virgin line both in terms of transfer speeds up and down as well as latency. However hspa+ seems to need a decent signal to do it's thing well. Still amazing compared to the other connection types. I have to say, when I got my G300, the only real dissapointment was no hspa+, but expecting the latest and best tech in a budget phone was probably asking a bit much.
