Help iPad 3 4g - to jailbreak or not to jailbreak?

    Hi chaps

Could I please ask for some advice .
I have picked up an iPad 3 4g but it's locked to orange !!! Grhhhh
anyways I am not sure if this has been asked before but can I jailbreak it then somehow remove the sim lock ? I am trying to get the previous owner to ring orange to get it unlocked ( I would cover the cost ) but it's proving a slow process .

If I can do it another way any help would be grand .

Thanks in advance and sorry if it's already been asked before

    Sarg !

Afaik there is no JB for any recent basebands mate. Mobileman might have a supplier for unlocks if orange can't do it directly.

I honestly thought all iPads were unlocked, even if from a carrier. Has that changed ?

Thats what I thought, From Apples website

Wi-Fi + Cellular model: Keeps you connected to the Internet using a fast mobile data connection when Wi-Fi isn’t available. So you can stay connected when you’re commuting on the train, hanging out at the park or looking for directions on the road. It’s available without a contract, and service is sold separately. See your carrier for tariff information.
    About Data Plans for iPad

To start mobile data service, you will need a micro-SIM card and a data plan. A range of data plans is available and most don’t require a contract. When you order your iPad from the Apple Online Store, you can add a micro-SIM card from any of the carriers listed below. You can start data service anytime after installing the micro-SIM card. Some plans can even be started from the iPad

Believe this is right when from apple store but I think this come from an orange shop . Think they had none available at apple and orange had some at same price so she bought it and they have put a lock on it . It's locked as when I put my iPhone "three" sim in it locks out . So even a jail break won't make it unlocked then ! Oh man

that's something new then, I know all iPad 1's were unlocked, no matter where you got them from. I hadn't considered the possibility that my iPad 3 would be locked tbh, not that it really matters.

Just a thought, if Orange have subsidised the unit they may not unlock it, or if they do they will want paying. I have been given one in the US last week and have been assured that it will work on any network world wide. Have not even unboxed it yet as I wont be back in the UK until next weekend.

Subsidised or not bud orange make you wait 3 months before they will unlock it and at the charge of £20.49 .... Fuckers . That's shit considering it was paid out right in full the only reason bought was cause they had stock n no one else did .
