    Default SHL Personality Tests

Hi. Has anyone ever done one of these personality tests? I've just applied for a position at an oil refinery and I've got past the first part of the selection process and now I've just had to complete an online personality test. How much do these things go to the company making a decision? Seems a bit odd because you can't get the full picture from 15 multiple choice questions, can you?

Ive done hundreds of these last year. I think their pretty useless in telling your real personality. They try to catch you out by repeating the same question in a different way, but if your aware of it its easy to fool. I think its pot luck really. As long as you dont give obviously bad answers for the role youll be fine.

TJB, are you looking to go to Lindsey or Killinhome? Also what position are you applying for?

I have done these twice now, I think they are pretty pointless. Once completing the maths one I then got told by my interviewer that it didn't really matter what results I got as they were just a guide ... ???

Thought it wuld be an operator, asking for the tests. It's a stressful job by all accounts, but when things are all running to plan it's not too bad. the daily interruptions and knowing everything that's going on on the site is I guess a hard part of the job. They never seem to be 100% running, there's always something down somewhere or someone working on a unit that's upsetting the process.

I did 6 months on Lindsey a couple of years back on a shutdown scope of work, and 18 months down in Essex at coryton before that so had a bit of experience in refineries.

    Good luck fella
