    crazy A little experiment...

Feel like some sort of Mad Scientist type. Got an experiment going in the cellar involving a rusty BBQ grill, a 2litre bottle of cola and 2 bottles of white vinegar and a plastic bag.... muaahwhahahahah!

Anyone know how long to leave it for? 24 hours?

I had absolutely no idea where this was going or what you was talking about until I googled White Vinegar & Coke.
I'm guessing there might be a little bit more to it than adding a Rusty BBQ and a Tesco bag - albeit probably not much. Ha!

    Knock yourself out.

Don't blow yourself (or your house) up and remember, we want pictures of the aftermath, even if it's dripping from your face!

haha probably should have mentioned I was cleaning the BBQ.

Na I came home to a list as long as my arm of stuff to do around the house. BBQ was last on the list, and I tried that Oven Pride shit 3 times and it took off all the heavy grease and left the rust. Didnt quite fancy the notion of putting rust remover on the BBQ and then cooking on it, so wanted to try something a little less poisonous. A quick search on google revealed that coke and white vinegar will remove it all. Going to leave it for 48 hours and see what happens. Should have taken a before picture...

It loosened some of the rust , but not all of it. I'd I would imagine it would work for surface rust, not deep inset rust like what was on my BBQ grill. I left it for 2 days.

I used some of the gel from halfords and had a similar result to be honest.
